The Wisdom of Zig Ziglar

Yesterday, Zig Ziglar passed away after a brief illness. He was truly a wise man with a great sense of humor. He positively impacted millions of people with his message of optimism, faith, hard work and persistence. When I was in college, I purchased a motivational tape that he recorded called, “See You At The Top.” His message was simple, yet powerful and it made a big difference in my life. He spoke about the importance of making daily progress on your goals. He wrote his book “See You At The Top” by writing only one page a day over the course of ten months. At the same time, he lost the weight he needed by making small, daily changes to his diet and by exercising each day. Here are some of my favorite quotes from Zig Ziglar:

“The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what you want most for what you want right now.”

“Rich people have small TVs and big libraries, and poor people have small libraries and big TVs.”

“Of all the attitudes we can acquire, surely the attitude of gratitude is the most important, and by far the most life-changing.”

“You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want.”

“Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.”

“It is not your aptitude but your ATTITUDE that decides your altitude in life.”

“Spend time with those you love. One of these days you will say either, “I wish I had,” or “I’m glad I did.”

“When you are tough on yourself, life is going to be infinitely easier on you.”

“When you put faith, hope and love together, you can raise positive kids in a negative world.”

“Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the ‘gotta have it’ scale.”

“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.”

“I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles.”
